AdminHistoryHoustoun Industrial Estate was Livingston's first industrial estate. In 1966 Cameron Iron works was constructed on Houstoun Industrial estate at a cost of £12 million. The works housed a 30,000 ton press, the largest in Europe at the time.

The files detail the Corporation's management of utilities; correspondence with tenants regarding bills, negotiation of leases and rent reviews; documentation regarding any purchasing of property; memos and other documentation regarding site investigations of condition of property on the tenant's termination of occupation, investigation and action on any repair or minor alterations needed on site; and details of any major modification work undertaken at the unit, including maps and plans. Some files contain Polaroid pictures of the condition of the property on the tenant's termination of occupation.
