With the high uptake of land in Houstoun and Deans Industrial Estate and the designation of Kirkton as a high technology park, the Corporation began looking for land for a third light industrial area. Linhouse, to the southeast of the town was the preferred option, but negotiations with Midlothian County Council fell through with the re-organisation of local government in 1975. Despite other attempts to develop the area over the years, none came to fruition. |
