AdminHistory | Phase I of The Centre was opened in 1977, having been in development since 1972. It comprised a Woolco superstore and a covered shopping mall with 320,000 sq ft of retail space. The Livingston Development Corporation was instructed to put the project out to tender by the Scottish Development Department, which meant that many loss making facilities, such as a central library for Livingston, were discarded in favour of commercial ventures. Ravenseft was appointed developer of the site, and they signed a 125 year lease in 1975. |
