AdminHistory | The Development Corporation was aware, as early as 1970, that Livingston was in need of a cinema, and that at that time the nearest place to view cinema releases was Edinburgh. It was not until 1978 however, that the Corporation was able to attract a cinema. The Corporation leased the floor above the Presto Supermarket, located in Almondvale Shopping Centre, from the owner of the Centre, Ravenseft Properties in 1978. The Corporation then sublet the space to Caledonian Associated Cinemas, who opened a small, multi-screen cinema, bingo hall and bar complex. The Entertainment Centre remained open until the early 1990s. |
