| AdminHistory | Livingston Development Corporation was tasked with creating a town that had a natural and varied development, similar to established communities. Although in initial years, there was a stress on attracting industry to Livingston to provide the bulk of employment, the town was always planned to include leisure facilities, as well as shopping and commercial centres. As the industrial patterns within the UK changed, the commercial and services industry grew in economic importance. The Centre, a regional shopping centre at the heart of Livingston, is now one of the town's largest employers. |
