AdminHistory | In 1981 a burst pipe leak was discovered at Factory Project 45, with between 100mm and 150mm of water in the offices and production areas. There was considerable damage caused to the factory. The cause of the leak was crack in the join of a pipe. The factory had been built by George Wimpey construction, from whom the Corporation pursued damages. The case hinged up on the broken pipe (which, unfortunately, went missing in the mid 1980s) and whether the Corporation or Wimpey had been responsible for appointing the contractor who installed the faulty pipe.
The case was settled in the Court of Session, in 1989, with the LDC awarded a settlement of £47,500 with expenses. |
