AdminHistory | Though the management structure of the Development Corporation changed several times in its lifetime, the high-level decision making process and chain of authority remained relatively unchanged. Ultimate policy and strategy decisions remained with the Board. Day to day management of the Corporation lay with the General Manager (Chief Executive from 1977). The Chief Officers (Directors from 1991) headed each department.
Once monthly and prior to each Board meeting, the Chief Officers/Directors met with the General Manager/Chief Executive. These meetings held several functions: to compile reports for the Board's agenda; to approve and action certain items that did not affect Corporation policy and were within agreed spending limits; and to recommend new items for the agenda of the Board. The Chief Officers' recommendations were in turn based on the work of their Deputes (Section Heads from 1991) who also met once monthly, and who similarly compiled reports and scaled up items to the Chiefs' meetings, depending on the limits of their delegated authority. |
