AdminHistory | Staff meetings of the Housing and Social Relations department were initiated by its first manager, Leslie Higgs and involved senior staff from both Housing Management and, at first, Community Development. They were continued by David Kelly when he became Chief Officer in 1982. The meetings were initially scheduled to follow meetings of the Board of the Corporation, so that staff could review the Board's decisions as well as discuss thier own work. The meetings evolved over time however. When, in 1982 Community Development staff stopped attending, the policy elements of the meetings were also dropped. These Housing Management Meetings instead became a forum for housing staff, particularly the Assistant Chief Officer (Management) and Area Housing Officers, to review the management of housing stock and tenancy issues.
Separate, joint meetings between Housing and Community Development senior staff took place from 1983, and it was in those meetings that policy issues were discussed. |
