Community participation
AdminHistoryThe Corporation's task team and steering group was responsible for the the choosing and education of the initial Co-operative tenants. Once a management committee was in place for the Co-operative, the running of hte co-operative was to be place in the hands of the new tenants. Choosing the initial tenants was a time consuming process, over 250 interviews took place for the initial tenants over a two year period.

Once the initial tenants were in place, an allocations committee was formed. It consisted of 4 members with some members changing every six months who were responsible for interviewing potential tenants. The objectives of the committee were to make sure empty units were let as quickly as possible, within the guidelines set out in the allocations policy. There was an attempt to create a 'good mix in the community' and to make sure that new tenants were interested in being part of a Co-operative.
