AdminHistory | In June 1987, the Drives Resident Association contacted all other Residents' and Tenants' Associations within the Livingston Development Corporation area to discuss, jointly, the problem of stray dogs. On finding this a useful forum to discuss common issues, the Associations decided to continue to meet regularly, on an informal basis. In April 1988 the Federation became a formally constituted organisation with membership open to any tenants/residents association in Livingston. They made a formal request to the Development Corporation for funding and premises in the Autumn of 1988.
The aims of the Federation on its constitution were: 1) To promote the provision and maintenance of good environmental and housing conditions, and to rpovide a greater degree of influence for Tenants & Residents Associations in these matters. 2) To promote the benefit of the residents of the area in and around Livingston, and to work towards the relief of poverty for residents in that area. 3) To improve social and educational opportunities and the quality of life in Livingston. 4) To assist and co-ordinate, when necessary, the activities of member associations and help them achieve their aims. 5) to assist and encourage the setting up of new tenants/residents associations. 6) To assist members to exchange information. 7) To co-operate with organisations, other than member associations, on matters of common concern.
