AdminHistoryOn 23 July 1982 the Secretary of State for Scotland made a public statement on the future of the New Towns, making it clear that there would be a drive to explore how public sector housing would be transferred from New towns to Local Authorities when the windup process began. In the initial designation orders it had been assumed that any housing stock built by Corporations would be passed on to local district councils, but with the growth of the ideas of tenant participation and the belief in the need for the diversification of tenure, a number of reports and working parties were formed to consider what would happen to housing stock when the Corporations that managed them were wound up.
