TitleInter-Agency Bodies
Date1976-1994
TermCommunity development
AdminHistoryThe Development Corporation did not have the statutory authority to provide all necessary facilities in Livingston. Many services fell within the remit of the local authority, for example the provision of football fields, schools and library facilities.. Prior to 1975 Livingston was within the are of both Midlothain and West Lothian County Councils. With the revision of Local Authorities in 1975, the county council was replaced by a two tier regional and district council system - Livingston was within the area of Lothian Regional Council and West Lothian District Council.

Given that, from 1975 onwards there were three statutory bodies responsible for the community facilities in Livingston, a number of inter-agency bodies developed to try and promote inter-body liaison.
