AdminHistory | Livingston held its first festival on the anniversary of its tenth birthday in 1972. In 1973 the Community Council agreed to take on the role of festival organiser, with support of the Corporation and the Livingston Festival became an annual event. 'Ownership' of the festival changed through the years. The Livingston Voluntary Organisation Council organised the Queen's jubilee visit in 1977, whilst in the 1980s (after the Livingston Community Council was replaced with district Community Councils) the Livingston Festival Association was formed. That organisation was responsible for the festival into the 1990s. By the mid-1990s the Festival had been replaced with town district Gala Days. |
