| AdminHistory | Over time the Corporation settled on the provision of 2-3 public houses per 8-10,000 people. It also aimed to provide 50% of these public houses in the town centre. The Corporation submitted proposals to the Licensing Planning Committee who, in turn, put them before Secretary of State for approval. By 1975 there were 25 licenses granted, including public houses, hotels, restaurants, social clubs and off-licenses. |
