TitleCentral Area Studies
Date1982-1992
TermTown planning
AdminHistoryEach district of Livingston was intended to be based around its own district centre. Those central areas built, including Craigshill, Deans, Knighstridge and Ladywell, had reached a state of dilapidation by the 1980s. For example, in Deans, by the 1980s the tennis courts were derelict and the shops and public buildings were in a state of disrepair.
The Corporation undertook surveys as to how to improve these central areas, including within the study public consultations. As a result of the central area studies the Corporation then undertook phased improvements.
