AdminHistory | To embed the necessary services in areas planned for development, a series of service strips were planned. Each service authority was asked to plan its services using these available strips. After an exchange of plans between all concerned, discussions and negotiations took place to provide the best location for all concerned. A deep trench was planned to incorporate Water, Gas and Telephone Mains. A secondary shallow trench was dug to incorporate electricy and television cables. Excavation costs were to be shared among the relative service authorities.
This broad scheme, agreed in the early 1960s, continued, with modifications, through the 1970s and 1980s. |
ScopeandContent | 5 files, comprising 2 administration and 3 engineering files.
The content of Administration files can vary, but, in general, they can include: correspondence with service providers regarding the provision of their services, including any needs for specific jobs or general standards required; minutes of meetings with those service providers where decisions and policy were discussed. Administration files can also include general Corporation policy, such as papers presented to Corporation Board Meetings for approval of policy, and the recording of decisions in extracts of board minutes. Maps and plans marking utilities can also be included as well as internal memoranda dealing with specific issues.
Engineering files are generally more specific than Administration files, dealing with interactions between the engineering department and service providers regarding contracts and the installation of services in specific areas. |
