Railway stations
AdminHistoryLivingston has two train stations. Livingston North lies on the Edinburgh-Bathgate line, which ran freight only until passenger services were reintroduced on 24 March 1986. Livingston South, on the Edinburgh-Glasgow Queen Street Shotts line, was opened in 1984. The railway stations and their environs were largely the responsibility of British Rail (later ScotRail), but the Corporation did undertake some environmental improvements in the area.
