AdminHistoryElectricity and gas supplies were the responsibility of the service providers. The Corporation and the relevant body planned how best to integrate supplies into new developments. There was some debate as to who was liable for the costs of installing new services, which were affected by a number of factors, including whether a development was industrial (commercial) or residential. Electricity, at the outset of the new town, was provided by the South of Scotland Electricity Board (later Scottish Power). Gas was provided by the Scottish Gas Board (later Scottish Gas).
