TitleInitial planning
Date1964-1971
TermUrban planning
AdminHistoryInitial Planning for the town centre took place in the 1960s, and was based on the principles laid out in the 1963 Master Plan. A central design team was put together, and they produced a series of reports which laid out the principles and basic schema necessary for a town centre. Zinn, Hunter and Woolgar were brought on as consultant engineers and the resulting data shifted the emphasis of the design from a location bordering the River Almond to more stable land just south of the river, which is shown in the later 1966 Master Plan revision.
