AdminHistory | New Town Development Corporation's occupied a rather anamolous position in local government, being responsible for some functions that would normally have been the remit of Local Authorities, (variously, between 1962-1996, County Councils, Regional Councils, District Councils) - for example, functions of the Corporation that would normally belong to a local authority included local authority housing and planning authority.
There were a number of co-operative committees set up between the local authorities and the Corporation so as to ensure that resources were adequately distributed and planning for the provision of services was undertaken in a co-ordinated manner. |
