AdminHistoryThe level of rent that was charged by the Development Corporation was set by the Board. The Board based their decision on a number of options presented to them by the Chief Finance Officer. The Finance Officer had, in turn, drawn up his proposals based on criteria set by the Scottish Office. There were a number of rebate schemes for commercial customers to attract them to invest in Livingston. There was a housing allocations policy based on categories with applicants in some categories given preferential treatment over others. For example, under the terms of the Glasgow Overspill agreement, tenants moving from Glasgow were virtually guaranteed a house in Livingston in the 1960s and early 1970s.
