ScopeandContent | This is quite possibly an early draft of the pamphlet Living Stones. The handwritten document incorporates comments on the early years of Livingston, but in the main focuses on Maitland's views on the ecumenical experiment and how it reflected on the established church in Scotland at that time. There is also an account of the reaction of Livingston Development Corporation to the creation of the Forum, an early Livingston community council. Maitland recounts that the Corporation regarded the forum as an "intolerable threat" and was seen as making Livingston "a community of belly achers of the first degree." |
