AdminHistory | One of the primary reasons for the designation of Livingston was to provide housing for persons displaced by post-war regeneration in Glasgow. A minute of agreement was signed in 1964 whereby the Corporation agreed to assign 16,000 of the planned 20,000 houses in Livingston to persons from Glasgow.
'Overspill', as it was termed, was never fully taken up as less people moved from Glasgow as had been anticipated. A formal recognition of this came in the mid-1970s and the agreement was terminated. |
